There are no apples native to North America. The seeds all came from Europe. Roxbury Russet is thought to be the first American apple cultivar mixed with Esopus Spitzenburg, said to be Thomas Jefferson's favorite apple in this delightful, sparkling cider with a slightly funky nose. These two old friends were known to have been used in cider even before our nation was born.
Carriage House produces European style ciders crafted by hand in Southwest Michigan. We offer a different cider experience for the adventurous palate. We take advantage of the more than 200 varieties of apples raised in the perfect climate and soil conditions of Southwest Michigan to create interesting, complex, old-world style ciders. Each has its own character for cider lovers and explorers.
