A classically styled bittersweet cider with fruits and flowers layered on top of rustic farmy notes. According to Long Ashton research station, Ellis Bitter was first planted in the 19th century, and was sometimes thought to have arisen on the farm of a Mr Ellis at Newton St. Cyres in the middle years of the century. Slightly conical in shape, it has a creamy yellow background with a dark pink-red striped blush. In the Finger Lakes, it begins dropping in late August.
Pair with pot-au-feu marrow broth with root vegetables or beef kofta grilled over charcoal and served in a pita.
