Planted at an elevation of 7,612 ft the Old Fort Lewis heirloom blend is sure to raise the bar. Originally planted in 1910, these “Old Growth” crabapples produce multiple high notes. Banana, Passionfruit and Citrus play tug-o-war with Nutmeg, Black Oak and Spruce for dominance on your pallet. It is a perfect example of a bitter sharp blend. It is dry to semi-dry with medium plus acid, medium tannins, and medium plus flavor intensity. The new 2021 vintage of the Old Fort orchard blend was left with a faint sweetness which binds the powerful flavors together, and balances the strong tannins in this year’s batch.
