Dry, sparkling cider co-fermented with crushed autumn olive berries. Native ferment. Raw, unfiltered and unfined. 100% dry.
Autumn olives are an invasive berry found growing wild all over New York State, brought over from Asia in the 1800s mostly for use in landscaping. The berries are tiny, with a large seed, but full of acid, tannin, and lycopene. They're great for you!
Each fall, I forage them, press them piegage a pied, and let them spontaneously start to ferment before adding them back onto a dry, finished cider to finish fermenting. The resulting fruit wine sits on the skin, seeds and lees for approximately 6 months before being bottled with a dosage to add some bubbles.
This year's cider has soft tannins with notes of grapefruit zest and red berries, almost like eating a pink grapefruit for breakfast after you;ve finished a bowl of fruity pebbles.
Named after my young friend Gabriel , who was born early one year on the day I foraged the autumn olives.

Greenpoint Cidery is a handcrafted, natural hard cider coming to you from Hudson, NY via Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Fermented from all New York apples, it is 100% dry, aged on the lees, unfiltered, and in a farmhouse style. Each cider is hand made traditionally in small batches with minimal intervention. Any added ingredients in limited release ciders are made with elements foraged from the surrounding land. Because it’s made by hand, each batch, and each bottle, is unique.
Greenpoint Cidery is owned and run by Nika Carlson. Carlson fell in love with cider as a Brooklyn bar owner, and inspired by the Spanish, French, and traditional American cider she adored, transitioned to orchardist and cider maker (and designer (and distributor (and keg cleaner))). She is based in Brooklyn, and grows apples and makes cider in Hudson, NY.
