Harrison was a seedling apple first grown around 1713 in Newark, NJ. It quickly became a star amongst cider apples, but by 1905, urbanization and a growing temperance movement had shoved it into relative obscurity. It was believed extinct for decades, until a lone tree was found on a small New Jersey farm in 1976. Cuttings were taken, and a week later, that last known tree was cut down to make space for a garden, eek!
Notes of peach and a touch of brett on the nose, ripe golden raspberry and melon on the palate, with a flinty citrus finish.
