Praised as the wine of the people; in the Piedmont region of Italy, Barbera is what we like to call a catch all- it's complex in flavor and extremely food friendly (think Italian dishes). While sometimes almost purple in color, this wine can look deceivingly heavy on the palate. However due to the nature of this grape having higher acidity and lower tannins you'll find it quite easy to drink. You'll find notes of blackberry, cherry, and licorice on the palate.
